August 20 Simple Coat's in Norway! Will and Derek are studying at the University of Bergen for the autumn '06 semester; Tim in here to help make short films and, hopefully, find a job so he can pay the rent. In other news, Goodnight Jolene is finished and has been posted; the short was completed in Prague for the national film school FAMU. Check the Prague Posts above for three little montage-traveller shorts about FAMU. Our eleven minute short film Why the Gown, which premiered at Wood's Hole Film Festival, is now hosted on iTunes and our podcasts page: Why the Gown was shot in the summer of '05. Recently, Simple Coat shot two short films using the P+S Technik MINI 35 image converter in order to use 35mm lenses; the results are great. Mike Cuomo, who we met online, acted in the films, both of which were shot in upstate New York around the Old Chatham, New Lebanon area. The shorter of the two, No Diving, is being edited right now; the longer, still untitled, should be edited sometime within the next month or two. We plan on posting a few montage-shorts to show the set-up here in Norway: look for those here on the news page. __________________________________________________________________________________ July 8 We're currently editing a short film entitled "Goodnight Jolene" shot in and around Prague. A final cut should be posted within the next week. __________________________________________________________________________________ July 1 Episode 2 is up. We've made our way to Karlovy Vary where we'll be attending the International Film Festival this weekend. Karlovy Vary is simply magnificent; our room is situated among tall, elaborately decorated buildings rising from the verdant hot springs that rush through the city streets below. The hotel room is something to talk about - but instead we'll just show you. We've begun posting short movies about our travels here. We should be able to catch-up with the editing very soon - so we'll be posting Karlovy Vary footage either later today or early tomorrow. __________________________________________________________________________________ June 27 We are in Prague! We should be posting Episode 2 very soon. __________________________________________________________________________________ June 3 Last night we attempted to create a short narrative intro for Episode 2. All we got was a broken tripod.
_________________________________________________________________________________------------------ June 2 Ship-Shape is screening at the Atlanta Film Festival on June 10th! We're screening within a shorts package containing Campus MovieFest's international finalists. We're going down to Georgia on the 9th to vacation for a day before the screening and Q&A session. _________________________________________________________________________________ May 27 We now have a new series podcast that is going to document the making of our next major project (here's the link for that). We've also updated our podcast page with a new short entitled Don't Cry Peanut. Yesterday Chuck played at Club Passim; if you'd like to watch a video of his song "Where the Songs Come From" just click the picture below. Today we're going to upstate New York to work on casting for our next film. ----------------------------------------- _________________________________________________________________________________ May 2 Simple-Coat.com was nominated for best website at the 25th annual EVVY awards! Sometime in late May we're going to be holding a panel discussion on video podcasting at the SOWA film festival, which is going to screen our podcast "Ship-Shape" as well. _________________________________________________________________________________ April 27 Our podcast was mentioned at TickleBooth, which is an awesome site to find out what's playing online, literally. Today we had to deal with our second wave of festival submissions for our SAG affiliated short film entitled "Why the Gown" that is separate from our video podcasts. Yesterday was our last day of school, which we didn't even realize until today. We're conceptualizing a new piece; we'll post updates as the project moves along. _________ _________________________________________________________________________________ April 26 We met up with Arin and Susan of Four Eyed Monsters after the podcasting panel discussion at the IFFBoston last weekend. They're great people; very knowledgeable and enthusiatic about the potential of the new podcasting medium. They posted a nice comment on our MySpace page as well. __________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________ April 22 Last night Simple Coat's short film "Ship-Shape" won best comedy at the Campus MovieFest Boston Finale! Our team was awarded video iPods. Today we're going to IFFBoston to see the first package of short films, which should be great. _____________ |
